What is LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas)?

LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas ) is natural gas that has been cooled to cryogenic temperatures and converted into a liquid state. This process significantly reduces its volume, making storage and transportation far more efficient and enabling its widespread use within global energy supply chains.

From long-distance marine transportation by LNG carriers, to unloading, storage, and regasification at LNG receiving terminals, LNG plays a critical role in delivering energy to end users. It is widely utilized in power generation, industrial applications, marine transportation, and LNG fueling infrastructure, supported by a well-established and mature global network of facilities and systems.

Compared with conventional fuels, LNG offers higher combustion efficiency and lower emissions of pollutants. In recent years, its use has expanded into marine and heavy-duty transportation applications, making it one of the key energy solutions supporting the transition toward a lower-carbon future.
